Completed in 1420 this palace was the exclusive domain of the imperial court and dignitaries until the 1920's.
A spot for sacrifices. They would do it on the 7th of the 7th lunar month which is the Chinese equivalent to Valentines day. That would of been August 19th this year.
The masses. This is a photo exiting the Forbidden City. It was never opened to the public until 1949 and I can't help but think all those Emperors must be rolling in their graves to have the "commoners" on their grounds. At this point I will bring up the fact babies don't wear diapers here. Baby clothes are crotchless so their baby parts and bums are exposed. Whenever they start to wee or poo moms run with them to put them over a bin. That doesn't work, they really just pee and poo everywhere, it's quite horribly disgusting. So much for these sacred grounds they're being shat on.
