Three pits are being excavated- There are about 8,000 soldiers, archers and horses. Now I'm a little confused between fact and fiction, because our guide told us with a lot of conviction that there were still 300 pits in the surrounding grounds unexcavated. I believed him and was impressed with the idea, but since I've been home and reading up a little on it I haven't found anything to back up that hypothesis. Wikepedia says in this "necropolis" complex they have discovered a 90 foot building above his tomb using sensing technology, but these so called other pits??? I'm sure there's still a lot to be discovered.
Undisputed it took 38 years and 700,000 workers to complete. All to be buried. Seems foolish to me, but hey who knows, maybe I'll run into this army in the after life and I'll think 'dang I should of built a couple of things to take with me'.
